Molecular Beam Epitaxy of lithium niobium oxide multifunctional materials

•The effect of substrate temperature on the phase nucleation of lithium niobium oxides is explored.•A method for growing single phase lithium niobium oxides and niobium oxides is presented.•A phenomenological phase diagram for the growth method is presented.•The material quality of the presented films is examined structurally and morphologically.
