Von Willebrand'S Disease in A Labrador Retriever with Leiomyosarcoma

In this paper is described a case of acquired von-Willebrand-syndrome in labrador retriever The dog was presented with sings of weakness, weight loss, and signs of gastrointestinal haemorrhage Laboratory analysis indicated severe anaemia with significantly decreased activity of von Willebrand factor (5% of normal activity) The patient was treated with transfusions of fresh blood. Postmortem patholustologicall examination showed the presence of a gastric leiomyosarcoma. The possibility of development of an acquired von-Willebrand-sydrome is discussed because during earlier in its life the dog had not show any signs of disturbances in haemostasis.
