•Dynamic strain aging (DSA) occurs between 573 and 973K and causes matrix hardening.•Magnitude-frequency of serrations linked with strength of solute-dislocation interactions.•773K is the most favored temperature for occurrence of DSA.•More than one species responsible for causing DSA.
