Reduced Dose 4-Factor Prothrombin Complex Concentrate Prior to Heart Transplant in Patients with Ventricular Assist Devices

Four-Factor Prothrombin Complex Concentrate (4FPCC) is used for the reversal of anticoagulation prior to orthotopic heart transplant (OHT) in patients with ventricular assist devices (VADs). Since limited evidence is available for the dosing of 4FPCC, 25-50 units/kg has been used based on package insert. We hypothesized that a lower dose of 4FPCC can be utilized in this patient population.
