Preparation and characterization of antibacterial orthodontic resin containing silver nanoparticles

•Silver nanoparticles were clearly synthesized within dimethylformamide solvent with a capping agent and without aggregation.•The silver nanoparticle incorporated dental resin was well manufactured by curing from ultraviolet–visible light.•The developed hybrid dental adhesive showed outstanding in vitro antimicrobial activities.
