Observation of a two-dimensional electron gas at CaTiO3 film surfaces

摘要
•Films of the parent perovskite CaTiO3 grown by PLD are studied with synchrotron ARPES and XPS.•The CaTiO3 surface hosts a 2DEG with a band bottom at 400meV with no indication of 3D dispersing bands.•The surface forms a c(4×2) reconstruction changing to p(2×2) under UV-light responsible for the presence of folded bands.
