Vascular-homing peptides for cancer therapy

•The heterogeneous feature of tumor vasculature allows the identification of novel vascular-homing peptides by the in vivo phage display.•Recent progress in clinical studies evaluating RGD and NGR peptides are reported.•Advances in preclinical research for newly emerged novel vascular-homing peptides are discussed.
