To investigate the influence of formation anisotropy on the transient electromagnetic (TEM) responses, we present a robust finite-volume (FV) based forward modeling algorithm for simulating TEM responses in an arbitrarily 3D anisotropic conductive medium. The accuracy of the algorithm is validated against quasi-analytic solutions for 1D anisotropic layered model, and numerical experiments on 3D models characterized with different types of electrical anisotropy demonstrate that TEM responses can be strongly influenced at the presence of specific formation anisotropy.
