Application of volumetric absorptive microsampling for robust, high-throughput mass spectrometric quantification of circulating protein biomarkers

•Volumetric absorptive microsampling (VAMS) collects a fixed volume (10µL) of blood.•VAMS can enable remote biomarker monitoring and is not biased by hematocrit.•We integrated VAMS into an automated platform for protein extraction and digestion.•The workflow’s analytical performance is shown for clinically relevant proteins.•The workflow’s broad applicability is shown by data-independent acquisition MS.
