Solvent extraction of americium(III) and europium(III) with 2,6-bis(5,6-diethyl-1,2,4-triazin-3-yl) pyridine in ionic liquids: Experimental study and molecular dynamics simulation

•The extraction of Am(III)/Eu(III) with C2-BTP/Cnmim+ NTf2- have been reported.•The extraction behavior at different temperatures was studied herein.•The mechanism of extraction is proved to be cation-exchange in polar RTILs.•The MD methods provide a hint to studying the sophisticated systems theoretically.
