Ultra Small Dual Band Antenna Design For Implantable Devices

We present an ultra small dual band antenna for both wireless power transmission (WPT) and radio frequency communication (RFC). A novel LC resonator circuit is applied for signal isolation of two frequency bands. We have shown the transmission performance of both WPT and RFC based on the simple circuit theory. The designed antenna is fabricated with the size of 7x7x0.65 mm. It achieves -11.2 dB WPT efficiency and -38.6 dB RF antenna gain from 1 cm inside a human body phantom, both of which are state-of-the art performance at the same antenna volume.
