•Adsorbent may be beneficial in reducing inflammation during aflatoxin challenge.•Adsorbents were not effective at reducing AFB1 transfer or excretion at the doses tested.•The adsorbent neither hindered nor improved cow feed intake.•The adsorbent neither hindered nor improved cow milk production.
