Root hair anatomy and morphology in Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile and substratum typology: First observations of a spiral form

•This study provides evidence of P. oceanica root hair forms and structures.•A root hair polymorphism in P. oceanica growing on different substrata was noted.•For the first time, the spiral form of the seagrass root hairs was recognized.
