摘要
Background: Endometriosis is a common benign gynecologic condition. When it occurs during pregnancy, the symptoms typically lessen. Endometriosis-associated, spontaneous sigmoid-colon rupture in pregnancy is extremely rare and requires a surgical solution.Case: A woman 301/2 weeks pregnant developed an acute abdomen and fetal distress. During a cesarean section, a ruptured sigmoid colon was discovered and a colostomy was placed. Results: Postoperatively, this patient developed exudative bilateral pleural effusions that required thoracentesis. Conclusions: Endometriosis is a rare cause of sigmoid-colon perforation in pregnancy and can occur even when there is no history of endometriosis.
