An impedance matching transformer structure with consideration of 3D printed electromagnetic shielding

摘要
The design and development of a compact microstrip transformer for use with a new hollow coaxial cable structure is discussed within. A quarter wave impedance transformer was developed to allow the coupling of EM energy at 5.8GHz into a lower impedance cable. Consideration of the shielding effect of metal vs conductive graphene filament has been made. Full wave simulation and initial prototype testing has been carried out to ensure the correct operation of the transformer and the effectiveness of the various enclosures. Further testing is ongoing at this time.
