Influence of moisture content on cattle manure char properties and its potential for hydrogen rich gas production

•The effect of moisture content on cattle manure carbonization was investigated.•Moisture content mainly affect the yield of gas and liquid.•Gasification of cattle manure char can enhance the reduction of tar in the product gas.•Hydrogen concentration from manure char was 59.22%, higher than that of cattle manure.
