Resting state functional connectivity of frontostriatal and limbic networks defines four subtypes of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), predicting both symptom profiles and response to Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) (Drysdale, Nat Med, 23:28-38). Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is characterized by deficits in partially overlapping networks. Here, we investigate the utility of the four depression subtypes to characterize depression with comorbid BPD.
