Important Features of Vegetation Ignition Due to High Voltage Conductors

Forest fires pose a huge damage and threat to the natural environment and the safety of people. Among the many causes of forest fires, ignition of high voltage conductors in contact with vegetation is an important cause of forest fires caused by human activities. At present, there are few studies related to the ignition of high-voltage conductors in contact with vegetation in China. The feature of voltage and current signal changes during the fault process are not obtained, and the signal characteristics when the fault occurs are missing. Therefore, this paper conducts a large number of single-phase ground fault tests on a variety of typical vegetation such as pine trees, camellia trees and bamboo in southwest Sichuan Province, China. Typical features of voltage and current signals in the time and frequency domains during conductor contact with vegetation are obtained, and the features are evaluated to filter out the important features with high correlation with vegetation ignition.
