Effectiveness of enhanced mineral weathering as a carbon sequestration tool and alternative to agricultural lime: An incubation experiment

•Enhanced mineral weathering can decrease agricultural CO2 emissions.•Unlike olivine, agricultural lime increased soil CO2 production by 221%.•Olivine amendments raised soil pH & corrected Al toxicity.•A larger percentage of applied olivine dissolved at lower application rates.
