摘要
Abstract It is well known that most diseases are related to impaired metabolism, the main reason being incompatible dietary habits. Ayurveda makes use of taste of substances ( rasa ), constitution of individuals ( prakṛti ), and bodily elements ( dōṣa ) to modify impaired metabolism. Studies involving ayurgenomics reveal reciprocal functioning of fundamental principles of Ayurveda and modern genomics for development of predictive and personalized medicine. It has been established that biochemical variations of an individual depends upon prakṛti (constitution) and food intake. This review tries to connect Ayurveda with principles of dietetics. The new concept is named AyurNutracet (personalized dietary supplements). Ayurveda-based nutraceuticals is a new paradigm in growing market. It is currently an emerging segment, as people are more inclined toward natural products rather than modified food supplements. An attempt is made here to establish rasa – dōṣa – prakṛti –based approach to understand some commercially available food supplements like Cyavanaprāśa , green tea, black tea, etc, as these are most commonly consumed in todayu0027s sedentary lifestyle.
