•AgOx is introduced in a transparent oxide-metal-oxide (OMO) structure.•Oxidization of AgOx is optimized for high transparency and efficiency of transparent a-Si:H solar cells.•Optical property of AgOx-OMO is investigated experimentally and theoretically.•Bifacial operation property of a-Si:H solar cells was presented.
