Motion Compensation Method for Stepped Frequency Radar

In order to solve the distortion of one-dimensional range profile caused by the target motion in stepped frequency radar, a new method of target motion compensation based on the cross-correlation Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and the least burst error function is proposed. Firstly, the target echo model of stepped frequency signal is established. Then the effect of target radial motion on the high-resolution range profile is analyzed. Finally, aiming at accurate motion compensation, a new method which combinates fast rough estimation and accurate searching is proposed. Simulation results show that the proposed method has the advantages of good anti-noise performance, high estimation accuracy and low computational complexity in realtime processing.
