摘要
Solitary fibrous tumors (SFTs) are uncommon spindle-cell neoplasms of mesenchymal origin that are infrequently found in the head and neck region. A 37-year-old man sought stomatology service, reporting an increase in the volume of the buccal mucosa for 1.5 years. An intraoral clinical examination revealed a yellowish lesion with fibrous consistency measuring approximately 4 cm. The diagnostic hypothesis was traumatic fibroma. An excisional biopsy was performed, and the material was sent for histopathological examination. The histopathological diagnosis was benign neoplasia of mesenchymal origin. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for Bcl2 and CD34 but negative for CK AE1/AE3, S-100 e, actin 1A4 with a final diagnosis of SFT. The patient is in follow-up and is without recurrence. The investigation of this lesion allowed the exclusion of other benign neoplasms. As SFT may exhibit malignant behavior, long-term monitoring is mandatory.
