Experimental and theoretical study of the valence electronic structure of propane by electron momentum spectroscopy

•Highly statistical measurements and thorough calculations enable us to study the electronic structure of propane.•Vibrational effects are found to play a noticeable role on the electron momentum profiles of outer valence orbitals.•Interference effects are revealed by the ratios of electron momentum profiles for two inner valence orbitals.
