•We obtained global deposition maps of Mo, W, medium-Z metals (Cr-Cu), fuel.•None of the deposition patterns show toroidal or poloidal symmetry.•A single transport scheme explains deposition patterns for Mo, W, medium-Z metals.•High-Z impurity migration is mainly influenced by E⇀×B⇀ drift and tor. plasma flow.•Simulations can fully explain local deposition, but only partly global deposition.
