摘要

•Sulfated protonated amino acid are firstly as a catalyst for cellulose hydrolysis.•Almost 100% of the cellulose is converted.•Amino acid protic ionic liquids are easy to prepare without any organic solvents.•Amino acids are easy to obtain in large quantities at low cost.
