Study of the removal of a pesticides mixture by a strain and their effect on the cytotoxicity of treated systems

•Removal of organochlorine pesticides by Streptomyces sp. A5 was evaluated.•Efficient degradation of LIN and CLD individually or combined was achieved.•Liquid samples treated with Streptomyces sp. A5 showed lower cytotoxicity.•Putative sequences of non-specific enzymes were detected in the genome.
