The Role Of Ultrasound In The Diagnosis Of A Rare Case Of Chronic Shistosoma Haematobium In The United Kingdom

This case report discusses the use of ultrasound in the diagnosis and morbidity assessment of the urogenital form of schistosomiasis. Although previously considered rare in the United Kingdom, the incidence of Schistosoma haematobium has increased in western countries. The ultrasound findings of this report are correlated with existing ultrasound criteria and found to be educational in regard to patient management. This case highlights the importance of obtaining a comprehensive patient history in order to narrow potential differential diagnoses and facilitate appropriate referral.
