Novel dual-band electromagnetic bandgap structure

A novel structure with meandering slotted dual-band electromagnetic bandgap is proposed. The dual-band surface wave bandgap can be realized by using one kind of unit in the same substrate. The surface wave suppression bandgap properties were analyzed by using surface-wave dispersion diagram. This meandering slotted dual-band mushroom-like EBG structure was fabricated and the TE (transverse electric) and TM (transverse magnetic) surface wave suppression bandgap were measured by the use of a pair of coaxial probe for coupling surface wave. The results calculated by using a finite-element model are well agreed with the measured results. The feasibility is validated that dual-band surface wave suppressing bandgap can be realized by using slots. ©2009 by Editorial Department of Chinese Journal of Radio Science.
