Supplementary description of flowers and flowering branches of four Fargesia and one Drepanostachyum species (Bambusoideae, Poaceae), and notes on their taxonomy

Supplementary descriptions of the flowers and flowering branches of Fargesia qinlingensis T. P. Yi, F. funiushanensis T. P. Yi, F. canaliculata T. P. Yi, F. subflexuosa T. P. Yi and Drepanostachyum semiorbiculatum (T. P. Yi) Stapleton ( = F. semiorbiculata T. P. Yi) are presented. The characteristics of the flowers and flowering branches of F. qinlingensis and F. funiushanensis are similar to those of F. spathacea, the type species of Fargesia, while those of F. subflexuosa and F. canaliculata show a transitional state between Fargesia and Yushania. The characteristics of the flowers and flowering branches of F. semiorbiculata support its transfer to Drepanostachyum, previously suggested based on vegetative characteristics.
