Isolation and characterization of spermatogenic cells from cattle, yak and cattleyak.

•The spermatogenic cells from bovidae have been isolated with high purity by using STA-PUT method for the first time.•The spermatogonia and spermatocytes from cattle and yak were significantly larger than those from cattleyak.•Morphological identification in combination with marker genes can identify the isolated spermatogenic cells of cattle, yak and cattleyak.
