•Our survey investigated the introductory Computer Graphics course.•28 universities from all over the world were surveyed.•On average, Rendering together with Geometric Modeling account for 89% of content.•Animation, Fundamentals and Visualization account for the other 11%.•Online contents confirmed by 71.14% of the instructors.
