A study of contact lens compliance in a non-clinical setting

•Daily replacement wearers were more compliant with lens replacement, but all replacement types had similar compliance with overnight wear.•Contact lens wearers who are non-compliant with prescribed contact lens replacement are more likely to be non-compliant with overnight wear.•Contact lens case replacement was not associated with lens replacement or overnight wear compliance.•Eye care providers should provide clear compliance education – especially on overnight wear and case replacement - when prescribing contact lenses.
