摘要

•A multi-institutional cohort of 699 patients who underwent nephrectomy was investigated in the study.•The Youden index offered an optimal cut-off value of 0.073 in CAR (C-reative protein/Albumin ratio).•Elevated CAR was associated with unfavorable clinical outcomes and was found to be an independent predictor for OS, CSS and RFS in RCC patients with and without metastasis at the time of nephrectomy.•The CAR is a durable indicator for predicting both the lethality and recurrent progression as compared to other inflammatory prognostic indicators.
