In today's society so much information is received that can be the paradox that the citizen is not well informed. In this paper, after a brief review of the most recent literature on the quality of the information product. Is proposed as an indicator of quality for television news programs, the affinity index. This index is defined as the measure of the adequacy of the news program to the interests of the viewers, considering as such the concerns of citizens that the Centre for Sociological Research (CIS) collects in its monthly barometer. In short, it will be measured one aspect of the quality of news, taking into account the adjustment to the interests of the public. For the study, we have chosen a sample of news programs broadcast on Antena 3 and Telecinco in prime time 21:00 hours-in the year 2011. We have selected these two channels because they accumulate the largest audience. Is obtained as a result of the IA Antena 3 is normally higher than Telecinco, although both tracks the index value decreases considerably in the weekend programs.
