摘要

•A new probe for the rapid “turn-on” detection of Ce ions was successfully prepared.•The probe showed a colorimetric linear detection for Ce3+ with a detection limit down to 2.27 μmol/L.•The detection of both Ce4+ and Ce3+ was achieved by adding alcohols as reducing agents.
