Theta Rhythm Alterations - A Novel Predictive Biomarker Of Epilepsy

Background: Post injury epilepsy (PIE) is a terrible consequence of various brain insults including traumatic brain injury and stroke, and it is often resistant to anti-epileptic drugs. Recent pre-clinical studies offer novel understanding of mechanisms underlying epileptogenesis and promising therapeutics are emerging. However, biomarkers for PIE are required before these pre-clinical promising discoveries can be translated into clinical practice.
