Climate change adaptation and EIA in Austria and Germany – Current consideration and potential future entry points

•Direct references to climate change resulted in a very low number of hits.•Several thematic entry points for CC impacts into EIA were identified.•Environmental issues most addressed so far in combination with CC stressors are soil, water and forest habitats.•Mitigation and compensation measures could serve as important methodological entry points.•Primarily statements of environmental authorities and the public introduced climate change related topics so far.
