Latest guidelines suggest considering home treatment or early hospital discharge in low-risk mortality pulmonary embolism (PE) patients, identified through widely validated clinical prediction rules [1, 2]. Nevertheless, it is still not clear if these patients are really treated on an outpatient basis in clinical practice.Footnotes This manuscript has recently been accepted for publication in the European Respiratory Journal .
