•A piezoelectric energy harvester with both ends fixed piezo-transducers is designed.•The 50 cm × 20 cm module generates 2080 mWmax and 20.79 mW/cm3.•Optimized device installed on the rest area successfully operated LED indicators.•The harvesters have produced stable output performance and durability for 5 months.
