Synthesis of GaN fibers by varying precursor concentrations using Electrospinning method

Growth of GaN fibers by facile electrospinning method and the effect of precursor concentration on structural and optical properties have been reported. X-ray diffraction confirms the wurtzite structure of the synthesized GaN nanofibers. SEM images shows the length and diameter of the fibers increased as the precursor concentration increases. High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) confirmed the crystalline nature of wurtzite GaN nanofibers. Optical properties were also investigated using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) and photoluminescence, which shows the optical band gaps of the grown GaN nanofibers is 3.28 eV. This work confirms the precursor concentrations play a key role on the structural, morphological and optical properties of synthesized GaN nanofibers.
