Intra-annual Ips typographus outbreak monitoring using a multi-temporal GIS analysis based on hyperspectral and ALS data in the Białowieża Forests

•The Ips typographus outbreak in Białowieża Forest in 2015 was very dynamic.•The intra-annual multi-temporal hyperspectral data present a way to estimate the scale of outbreak in a large forest area.•New groups of dead trees were detected over 100 m away from known bark beetle nests.•We could not identify any tendencies in terms of the outbreak spread direction.
