Growth and Characterization of a Potential Organic NLO Single Crystal: Guanidinium 4-Aminobenzene Sulfonate (Guas)

An organic nonlinear optical single crystal, guanidinium 4- aminobenzene sulfonate was synthesized and grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. The cell parameters of the grown crystal were determined using powder X-ray diffraction technique. The presence of functional groups in the GuAS crystal were found using Fourier transform infrared spectral study. The optical property of the title compound was analysed using UV-vis-NIR transmittance and photoluminescence studies. The mechanical property of GuAS crystal was ascertained using Vicker’s microhardness study. The variation of electrical property of the GuAS was discussed with varying temperatures at different frequencies. CIE color chromaticity coordinates provide the dominant emission color of the title compound.
