•Freeze-dried hydroalcoholic açaí extract has anti-inflammatory activity.•Açaí extract can reduce pro-inflammatory and increase anti-inflammatory cytokines.•1 μg/mL of açaí extract is able to modulate NLRP3 inflammasome protein expression.•Açaí chemical matrix probably justify its functional capacities.
