Influence of preparation methods on the physicochemical properties and catalytic performance of Mn-Ce catalysts for lean methane combustion

•The synthesizing catalyst containing KxMn8O16 is under low temperature and atmospheric pressure.•KxMn8O16 improves catalyst performance and stability.•The waked MnO band is beneficial for the reduction process of Mn3O4→MnO.
