Research on reliability evaluation method of DC circuit breaker based on Markov model

•The steady state availability of hybrid DC circuit breakers is relatively high, but the failure rate is much higher than AC circuit breakers.•The reliability of hybrid DC circuit breaker is mainly affected by IGBT valve block.•Passive redundancy performs better in reliability improving of hybrid DC circuit breaker.
