Lightning Impulse Parameters Estimation using Maximum Likelihood Criterion

摘要
In this paper, Maximum Likelihood Estimation criterion is extended to estimate the parameters of a typical lightning impulse with unknown number of impairments. For this, a fitness function is provided to be optimized sequentially for the required parameters. Moreover, Particle Swarm optimization has been used as a search procedure due to its reduced sensitivity to the initial parameters. A forward selection method has been proposed based on the minimum MLE fitness value to estimate the number of modes and the parameters, at the same time reduce the computational complexity. Simulation results have shown an outstanding performance for the provided algorithm in different measurement scenarios with various SNR.
