CB2 Cannabinoid receptor agonist ameliorates novel object recognition but not spatial memory in transgenic APP/PS1 mice.

•Activation of CB2R improved the novel object recognition memory, however, had no effect on spatial memory in APP/PS1 mice.•Activation of CB2R had no effect on amyloid plaque burden in the cortex and hippocampus of APP/PS1 mice.•Activation of CB2R decreased the activation of microglia, promoted M1/M2 microglial phenotype conversion and increased the dendritic complexity in the cortex but not hippocampus of APP/PS1 mice.
