Rate and Associated Factors of Transient Ischemic Attack Misdiagnosis.

•We observed a high rate of TIA misdiagnosis in the ED, hospital, and outpatient clinics.•We did not observe any differences between correctly diagnosed and misdiagnosed TIAs in terms of ED presenting symptoms.•Small number of hospitalized TIA patients required an intervention or had a diagnosis that could justify hospitalization.•A rapid-access TIA clinic can relocate the care for low/medium-risk TIA patients from inpatient to outpatient setting.
