摘要
•Speech sound sequencing involves the use of well-learned subsequences, or “chunks”.•We examine the nature of these chunks using a motor-sequence learning paradigm.•Speakers learned to produce sequences containing non-native consonants clusters.•Performance gains largely generalized to novel syllables containing those clusters.•Thus, clusters appear to be a fundamental unit of speech sequencing.
